PRODUCTION, PROCESSING AND GOLD EXPORT PROCEDURES OF BEA MOUNTAIN UNDERGO GOL COMPLIANCE ASSESSMENT

MAY 5, 2025-MONROVIA: The Government of Liberia has completed a two-day compliance assessment of the gold production, processing and export of the mineral by the Bea Mountain Mining Company operating in Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County, through a Mineral Development Agreement (MDA).

The exercise, according to Mines and Energy Minister Wilmot Paye, is in furtherance of Government’s concession monitoring to ensure compliance with the Minerals and Mining Law of Liberia by all holders of Mineral Rights in the Country. The two-day assessments saw an intensive review of implementation of the Standard Operating Procedure(SOP) for Gold exportation, beginning with a joint high-level Government's Delegation comprising the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs (MOS), Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), and the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL).

The twenty-member Joint GOL Team was led by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Commissioner-General of the LRA, Senior Economic Advisor to the President, Deputy Mines and Energy Minister for Planning, Research and Development, Commissioner of Customs, and several Senior Technicians from the Participating institutions.

In Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County, the Team visited and inspected Bea Mountain Mining Company's Gold smelting, packaging, weighing and storage processes, and later proceeded to the Roberts International Airport (RIA) where the joint Government of Liberia delegation also inspected all processes and procedures leading to Gold shipment/export by Bea Mountain Mining Company. “This compliance visit will be done to all mining companies in the Country. No one will be left out.” Minister Wilmot Paye, and CG Dorbor Jallah assured the public.

At conclusion of the activities at the Airport, both Minister Paye, and Commissioner-General Jallah of the LRA, said the objective of the weekend’s compliance exercise is to reinforce Government's monitoring and inspection of major operations, from recovery to mineral processing to valuation and export.
