LIBERIA PARTICIPATES IN 11TH AFRICAN DIAMOND PRODUCERS ASSOCIATION SUMMIT, SIERRA LEONE MINING WEEK IN FREETOWN

FREETOWN, SIERRA LEONE – MAY 23, 2026: As a Member of the African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA), Liberia is honoring another participation in the organization’s 11th Ordinary Council of Ministers Meeting, and the 2026 Sierra Leone Mining Week.

The two events are running from May 19th, and will conclude on the 23rd in the Sierra Leonean Capital – Freetown, at that Country’s International Conference Centre. The theme for the events is: “Our Mineral Resources: Responsible Mining, Value Multiplication, and Shared Prosperity.”
This event brings together key stakeholders, including government officials, mining companies, industry leaders, investors, and service providers, to discuss challenges, opportunities, and innovations in Sierra Leone’s mining industry.

The exhibitions are showcasing various mining technologies, equipment, and services, providing a platform for networking and collaboration.

Madam Eudora Blay-Pritchard, Liberia’s Deputy Minister for Administration is heading the Liberian delegation. Deputy Minister Blay-Pritchard is representing the Minister of Mines and Energy, R. Matenokay Tingban. Also making Liberia’s presence felt at the May 2026 ADPA Council of Ministers forum, and the Sierra Leone Mining Week is. Fahnseth B. Mulbah, Deputy Minister for Planning, Research, and Development.

Libera’s other delegates include the Director for the Office of Precious Minerals (OPM), Rebecca Kumba Fallah, and ADPA Focal Point for Liberia, Joan Sarweh of the Internal Audit Section. The Director of Mines, Alwell Aloysius Carr, makes up the rest of Liberia’s representation.

Together in one accord, Deputy Minister Blay-Pritchard and team are greatly enhancing Liberia’s visibility and participation in the regional mining discussions and cooperation initiatives.

According to a dispatch from Freetown, the participation of Liberia is providing significant strategic, institutional, and economic benefits for the Country’s mining sector. Key benefits of Liberia’s participation include strengthening regional cooperation by providing the opportunity to engage with fellow African diamond-producing countries on shared challenges and opportunities within the mining sector. This, the dispatch indicates, strengthened regional collaboration on mineral governance, trade, transparency, and sustainable development.

The summit is also promoting Liberia’s Mining Sector by the Country’s participation in the Sierra Leone Mining Week. This created a platform to showcase Liberia’s mining potential, ongoing reforms, and investment opportunities to international investors, development partners, and mining stakeholders as Liberia gears towards hosting its first international mining conference.

Liberia is also benefitting from policy and knowledge exchange at the May 2026 ADPA gathering, and the Sierra Leone Mining Week by the Country’s participation in high-level discussions on best practices in mineral resource management, artisanal and small-scale mining formalization, value addition, environmental sustainability, and revenue generation within the extractive sector.

Another highlight of the essence of Liberia being at that twin international event is strengthening the Country’s Role within the African Diamond Producers Association. Liberia’s active participation reinforced its commitment to the objectives of ADPA and enhanced its voice in regional policy formulation concerning the diamond and precious minerals sector, networking and strategic partnerships.

The events are enabling the delegation to build relationships with government officials, mining experts, private sector actors, and international organizations by opening avenues for future technical cooperation and investment partnerships.

Attendance at technical sessions and stakeholder engagements exposed the Liberian delegation to emerging trends, innovations, and governance approaches that can support institutional strengthening within Liberia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy, as well as enhancing transparency and accountability through engagements on governance and compliance standards. The delegation gained valuable insights into improving transparency, auditing systems, and regulatory oversight in Liberia’s mining sector.

The knowledge and partnerships gained from the meetings will greatly contribute toward Liberia’s broader objective of leveraging its mineral resources for economic growth, job creation, and sustainable national development.

The participation of the Liberian delegation demonstrates the Government of Liberia’s continued commitment to regional integration, responsible mineral resource management, and the advancement of the mining sector as a driver of national development.
